A BEHAVIOURAL SCIENTIST AND MIDLIFE OPTIMIST

I've spent my life studying behaviour

I’m fascinated by why we do what we do, especially when it comes to our health.

For over 40 years I’ve studied human behaviour academically, researched it professionally, and explored it personally.

Now in my 60s, I’ve seen both the rewards and regrets that come from the choices we make over a lifetime. But I’ve also discovered that meaningful change is always possible. By making small, intentional shifts, I’ve managed to slow, and in some cases even reverse, the signs of ageing in my own life.

These insights have given me a clear goal: to help others navigate the second half of life with greater vitality, resilience, and confidence. My approach is grounded in science and shaped by real life.

Yes, we’re all getting older. But how we age? That’s something we can influence. It’s never too late to take better care of your health and actively manage your own ageing process.

MY HEALTH PHILOSOPHY

The second half of life can be our best. A time when things begin to come together with more clarity, purpose, and intention.

Good health is central to that. Not as an end in itself, but as the foundation that makes things possible.

Retireless isn’t about health for its own sake. It is about what good health allows us to do. The journeys still to take, the skills still to learn, the conversations, projects, and adventures ahead.

I love running. Not because I want to win races, but because I love the journey. And life, like running, is a long game. To go the distance, you need optimism, discipline, patience, resilience, focus, and the health to support them.

There is no magic in this. No quick fix. Just the quiet power of consistency; thousands of small steps, and the belief that more is possible.

Running, like life, is not a project to complete. It’s a process to live.
